Margot Robbie’s Barbie goes to jail in new official trailer

Between Suicide Squad and now Barbie, you can’t keep Margot Robbie’s movie characters out of jail.

But this time, our blonde bombshell was wrongly imprisoned alongside her beau Ken after a stranger assaulted Barbie. It seems like that happens when Barbie enters the real world, and we get our first glimpse at what this Greta Gerwig film is all about.

Barbie is awaiting a summer release and just unveiled its main trailer, teasing what misadventures our titular hero will encounter on her journey to self-discovery. As she leaves Barbie World and enters the human world, it seems like the grass isn’t always greener (or pinker) on the other side.

Directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady BirdLittle Women), the Barbie movie sees Robbie and Gosling’s iconic toy couple joined by a bumper cast that includes  Will Ferrell (Step Brothers), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Bombshell), America Ferrera (Superstore), Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Alexandra Shipp (tick, tick… BOOM!), Issa Rae (The Lovebirds), Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Hari Nef (And Just Like That…), Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami), Rhea Perlman (Cheers), Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education), Emerald Fennell (The Crown), Sharon Rooney (The Electrical Life of Louis Wain), Scott Evans (Grace and Frankie), Ana Cruz Kayne (Little Women), Connor Swindells (Sex Education), Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy), Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag) and Helen Mirren (Shazam!
