Brie Larson confirms her Fast X character is the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody

Since Brie Larson entered the Fast and Furious world, many have wondered who the Oscar-winner would be playing. There were some rumblings she’d portray a sister to the late Paul Walker, but now Larson has confirmed who she will play in Fast X, and she is still related to one of the legacy characters, just not the one people wanted.

In a new interview with Total Film via Game Radar, we get confirmation that Larson’s Tess is the daughter of Mr. Nobody, Kurt Russell’s character from Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and F9.

On where she stands in terms of the good and bad spectrum, she’s one of the good guys, though she has more of her father’s Agency ways.

Larson tells Total Film, “She is technically Agency, but she’s kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn’t go along with the way that the Agency’s headed now that her father isn’t there. She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and is fighting for that.”

Larson also says how she will connect with Vin Diesel’s Dom. Adding, “Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she’s gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust. What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it’s an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that’s family for life.”

We will see how large of a role Larson will play and if she will fit into the Fast family with ease when the film is released this May.

Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved, and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

Fast X is directed by Louis Leterrier and features a cast that includes Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, Charlize Theron, and Gal Gadot.

Fast X is set to race into theaters on May 19th 2023.
